Cooking Your Live Lobsters

When you receive your live Maine lobsters, store them in the fridge until you are ready to cook them. We recommend the fruit/vegetable bins for storage. You should cook your lobsters either the day you receive them or the following day.

When you are ready to cook your lobsters, boil a few inches of water in a large pot with a pinch of salt.

Once the water has come to a rolling boil, drop your lobsters into the pot and cover the pot with a lid to steam.

Average cooking time is 12 minutes for the first pound and 3 minutes per additional pound. For example, a 2 pound lobster would steam in 15 minutes.

When a lobster is fully cooked, the antennas will come off when given a firm tug. The tail meat should be white all the way through and not gray or clear.
